Uber PM Interview Questions

Uber PM interviews test your ability to reason about marketplace dynamics, growth loops, and operational complexity. The company values PMs who can think about both sides of a marketplace (riders and drivers, eaters and restaurants), optimize for unit economics, and operate in a highly competitive, regulated environment.

Interview Process

1

Recruiter screen (30 min) — background and role fit

2

Hiring manager phone screen (45 min) — product sense or analytical question

3

On-site: 4-5 rounds covering product design, analytical/metrics, strategy, behavioral, and a marketplace dynamics round

4

Debrief and hiring committee review

What Uber Looks For

Marketplace thinking — understanding supply/demand dynamics, network effects, and liquidity
Operational rigor — thinking about real-world logistics, safety, and compliance
Growth mindset — identifying and prioritizing growth levers across the funnel
Data fluency — comfort with experimentation, metric decomposition, and causal analysis
Bias for action — moving fast in a competitive, time-sensitive market

Interview Tips

  • Think in terms of marketplace health: supply-demand balance, liquidity, and matching efficiency
  • For growth questions, consider both organic loops (referrals, habit formation) and paid acquisition
  • Uber operates in regulated markets — show awareness of regulatory and safety constraints
  • Practice decomposing marketplace metrics: take rate, ETAs, surge pricing, and utilization rates
