Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find out what the customer's procurement process looks like?+
Ask your champion directly: "What does the approval process look like for a purchase of this size? Who is involved, and what documents do they typically need?" Most champions will outline the steps if you ask.
What if procurement requests a discount to proceed?+
Prepare for this in advance. Know your discount authority, the minimum deal size for each discount tier, and what you can offer in lieu of discounts (extended payment terms, additional seats, training credits). Never discount without getting something in return (longer term, case study commitment, reference).
Should I talk to procurement directly?+
Yes, when possible. Offer to join a call with the procurement team to walk through the package and answer questions. Direct conversation prevents misinterpretation of documents and builds trust. Use the [stakeholder alignment template](/templates/stakeholder-alignment-template) to prepare for multi-stakeholder procurement discussions.
How do I handle a procurement process that stalls?+
Identify the bottleneck (security review, legal review, budget approval, or internal priority). Address the specific bottleneck directly. If stalled on security, offer a call with your CISO. If stalled on budget, help the champion build the business case for the next budget cycle. ---
