How many charts should a data story have?+
For a 20-minute presentation, 4-6 charts. For a 10-minute update, 2-3. For a one-page executive summary, 1-2. The rule: every chart should advance the narrative. If removing a chart does not weaken the story, remove it.
How do I handle bad news in a data story?+
Lead with the bad news, not the good news. Audiences trust presenters who acknowledge problems upfront. Structure it as: "Here is what happened. Here is why. Here is what we are doing about it." Should I send the deck before or after the meeting?+

How do I tell a story when the data is ambiguous?+
Acknowledge the ambiguity explicitly. "The data suggests X, but we are not confident because of Y." Present the two or three most likely interpretations and what additional data would resolve the ambiguity. Stakeholders respect honest uncertainty more than false precision.
What tools work best for data storytelling?+
